Over the coming weeks, we’ll be highlighting some of our diligent, adaptive and committed staff and share our honest conversations with them about their work experience over these past few months.

In our first highlight, Brian Stilley, the Master Electrician for our Texas installations, spoke openly about how he’s getting used to the work flow. We discussed how he and his team are coping with their new work environment and how they’ve adjusted their procedures in order to stay healthy and help Texas go solar one homeowner at a time.

Momentum Solar: How would you describe your job responsibilities someone who’s never heard of solar?

Brian: “Light converted to usable energy, safely. Ensuring that electrical systems and sub-systems provide longevity and defect free performance.”

MS: What are three words you would use to describe your job?

B: “Challenging, diverse, and rewarding.”

MS: What’s your must-have WFH snack?

B: “Coffee (all day).”

MS: How are you staying focused while working from home?

B: “I don’t treat my home office different from the office. Focus is easier as there is not an abundance of people and activities.”

MS: How was your adjustment post-COVID?

B: “We do what we can; physical (social) distancing, temperature screenings for employees, masks and gloves, disinfecting common areas in vehicles and shared tools. We work very diligently to protect employees and customers.”

MS: What are some changes that you’ve noticed to your personal workflow?

B: “Taking breathers during the workday actually amounts to moments of levity and true separation. This has allowed me a moment to re-center and then dive back into the working day.”

MS: How does your team collaborate now with the added restrictions?

B: “We have always had multiple group text messages and video chat abilities among the team. The ability to collaborate and brain-storm is limited just a bit, as these are best as group discussions.”
