Here at Momentum, we genuinely care about how our work helps the environment. We are proud to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint by supplying them with clean energy. In fact, this philosophy is so deeply rooted into our core values that we have created All In, our own sustainability initiative.
All In is comprised of ambassadors from all Momentum Solar offices nationwide. We currently have over 70 ambassadors, and we are still growing! These ambassadors take part in weekly meetings, outreach events, charity collections and more.
All In members are passionate about practicing proper disposal of single-use plastics and other waste items. Lucy Jaramillo, an ambassador from Momentum’s South Plainfield office, discussed the conditions of the beach during All In’s inaugural clean up event. When asked what was most commonly found, she answered, “plastic of any type. Plastic straws, some cigarettes, but mostly single-use plastic items. There were also a lot of balloon strings.”
This is exactly why All In ambassadors feel the call to action. “It’s an important part of my lifestyle to protect our little planet” said Lucy. “When this initiative was established, I saw a great opportunity to join because it’s values and goals directly affect me as well, and my lifestyle.”
All In emphasizes sustainability in all walks of life, including sharing what we have with others who are less fortunate. The holiday season is especially an important time to think about how we can help our neighbors.
November was deemed All In’s Month of Giving. Ambassadors held a canned food drive for a local food bank near headquarters. We also directed an internal clothing drive, where a variety of clothing items were donated to the Purple Heart. Finally, we help our second office park cleanup during lunch hours to remove any litter found around our office buildings.
Syed Rizvi, an engineer on the Design Team, expressed why he is so passionate about giving back to our communities. “I believe a lot of underprivileged people tend to get ignored. They tend to be only remembered around this time of year, so I try my best to donate as much as possible throughout the year, especially this time of year because it’s probably the best time to do more.”
Sustainability is more than upcycling; it is about sharing the things we have with others who are not as fortunate. “An individual is a product of society, and society is a product of an individual’s actions” Syed said. “The more good we do, the more good there will be in society.”
“I wanted to become an All In Ambassador because I care about the environment. From a scientific perspective, being an engineer, I think there’s a lot that can be done fairly easily to make a positive impact.”
