Employee Spotlight – Amanda Midoneck
If you didn’t catch our first feature in our Employee Spotlight series, here’s the scoop! We’ve been chatting with some of our Momentum Makers about their transition to a work-from-home environment.
Next up we talked to Amanda Midoneck, our Operations Manager for the New Jersey and Pennsylvania markets.
MS: How would you describe your job responsibilities someone who’s never hear of solar?
A: My job responsibilities consist of ensuring projects are pushed through the pipeline while adhering to deadlines and time constraints. Identifying and resolving current and potential issues within the pipeline to ensure a smooth transition for our customers. My overall goal is to expedite the process of getting solar panels installed and energized for our clients.
MS: What are three words you would use to describe your job?
A: Three words I would use to describe my job would be: dynamic, collaborative and rewarding.
MS: What’s your must-have WFH snack?
A: White Cheddar Cheez-Its. Someone really needs to get these away from me.
MS: How are you staying focused while working from home?
A: Staying focused for me has never really been an issue. I think my biggest hurdle has always been knowing when to stop.
MS: How was the adjustment from the office to working at home?
A: My transition to working from home was initially a very difficult one. We were so used to people and things being readily assessible to us when we were back in the office. Thankfully the technology that has been provided to us outside of the office has made it easy for us to remain collaborative and communicate efficiently.
MS: What are some challenges that you face?
A: Honestly, I haven’t faced very many challenges. I think the biggest challenge was being stuck in the house every single day. I have been able to create a work from home environment and routine though and I try to ensure that I stick to it daily.
MS: What are some benefits that you’ve noticed?
A: Some of the benefits I have noticed is that I am able to spend more time with my family now. My daily commute to the office would tack on an extra two hours a day, with me not having to make that drive, I can accomplish more in the workday while also maintaining a healthy work and life balance.
MS: How does your team collaborate now that you aren’t working together in person?
A: Thankfully our IT department has been able to provide us many tools to keep in touch outside of the office. My teams can communicate via Microsoft teams. We also use Zoom, group chats and check in daily via phone calls as well.
MS: If you had the opportunity to WFH permanently, would you? Why or why not?
A: If I had the opportunity to work from home permanently, I would because I personally feel like I have been more productive from home than I was able to be in the office. I would probably still go into the office sporadically just to see some friendly faces because my teams think I’m better company than my dog does.
MS: What do you miss most about the office?
A: What I miss most about the office would be the people. Hands down! I miss coming into a swarm of hello’s, friendly faces, people laughing at my jokes and the office dynamic in general.
